Koflach – Y-Technology

Taking mountaineering to new height

Koflach has been a consistent innovator since it produced its first mountain boots in 1926. Technologies advance quickly in mountaineering, and Koflach decided to embark on a radical redesign programme aimed at creating a new and even better line of mountaineering boots. Following extensive research and discussions with seasoned mountaineers, the result was Y-Technology. The system incorporates a thin-walled outer shell designed around a rigid longitudinal core.

The rest of the shell is over-moulded with a more pliable Pebax plastic, to create a combination of layers that gives superior longitudinal rigidity for secure crampon attachment, with maximum lateral flex for fit and comfort. A third material is moulded around the external perimeter (bar the extreme tip and heel) to support the secure attachment of crampons. The ‘Vario’ ankle joint permits lateral and forward flex between the lower shell and cuff of the boot for natural walking comfort.

Y-Tech boots, with swappable insulation liners, are extremely light and weather-resistant. They maintain their thermal comfort and strength at any altitude.
